SUMMARY:Social Investment Lab – Lisbon Edition
DESCRIPTION:How can Europe better finance social innovation?\n\n\n \n\n\nThe SIMF Social Investment Lab will bring together a carefully selected group of around 30 impact investors\, philanthropists\, policymakers\, entrepreneurs and ecosystem leaders in Lisbon (15–16 October 2026) to explore financing models that bridge the gap between grant funding and impact investment. \n\nWhile the SIMF Social Investment Lab is an invitation-only event\, we want to broaden the conversation and create an opportunity for additional voices to join us. \n\nIf you work in social investment\, impact investing\, philanthropy\, public policy\, social entrepreneurship\, or social innovation\, and feel your experience could contribute to the discussions\, we encourage you to submit an Expression of Interest. \n\n📍 Lisbon\, Portugal 📅 15–16 October 2026 \n\nThe Social Investment Lab (15 October 9:00 – 16 October 14:00)\n\nThe Social Investment Lab explores financing models that support social innovation – specifically the underserved space between grant funding and impact investment finance\, where many social innovations struggle to find the capital to scale. \n\nOver two days\, 30 people – a deliberately small group of impact investors\, philanthropists\, policy makers\, entrepreneurs and others – will examine models already working elsewhere and stress-test ideas in a European context. \n\nThis is the first of three Labs. The goal is a set of financial framework agreements that funders\, investors and the European Commission would\, in principle\, be glad to work through together: a blended capital stack designed to support social innovation. \n\nThe RoundTable (16 October\, 14:30-19:00)\n\nThis roundtable is a high-level European strategic conversation bringing together funders\, investors\, philanthropic organisations\, policymakers\, ecosystem actors and social innovation leaders to explore how Europe can strengthen its financing architecture for mission-oriented social innovation. The event will be followed by networking drinks. \n\nAttending\n\nAttendance is free\, funded by the Social Innovation Mission Facility (SIMF). \n\nInterested? Please submit your Expression of Interest as soon as possible.\n\nAs places are limited\, participation cannot be guaranteed. Selected applicants will be informed by mid-September whether they have been offered a place. \n\n\n\n\nSubmit your Expression of Interest here\n\n\nWe look forward to welcoming a diverse group of participants who are committed to shaping the future of social investment in Europe.

DESCRIPTION:🚀 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹-𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗥&𝗜 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲 \nHow can Europe make mission-oriented research and innovation policy more effective\, inclusive and impactful in addressing complex societal challenges? \nAs European innovation policy continues to evolve—from the Societal Challenges approach under Horizon 2020 to the current generation of EU Missions under Horizon Europe—there is a growing need to reflect on how missions are designed\, governed and implemented. \nAt the Social Innovation Mission Facility\, we see social innovation as a strategic enabler of mission-oriented policy. Social innovation brings societal engagement\, collective learning and system change into the innovation process—elements that are essential for tackling complex transformations and strengthening the effectiveness and legitimacy of European R&I policy.\nIn this upcoming ESSI & SIMF webinar\, we will explore how social innovation can become more closely integrated into Europe’s goal-oriented innovation policy. \n🎤 Featuring contributions from:\n🔹 Jürgen Howaldt — ESSI | Opening & introduction\n🔹 Wolfgang Haider — ZSI – Center for Social Innovation Vienna | Introduction to the Social Innovation Mission Facility\n🔹 Emilinah Namaganda — DRIFT – Dutch Research Institute for Transitions | Impact pathways: Reviewing the contribution of social innovations to the EU Missions\n🔹 Carly Wickham — EdelGive with SIX – Social Innovation Exchange Network | Establishing a Social Innovation Funders & Investors Network\n🔹 Valentina Crepaldi— Impact Hub Turin | Toolkit for business and social innovation support organisations\n🔹 Marthe Zirngiebl — TU Dortmund University | The next step: A community of practice \n💡 The discussion will explore questions including:\n👉 How can social innovation strengthen the next generation of goal-oriented R&I policy?\n👉 How can societal engagement\, collective learning and system change become integral to mission governance and implementation?\n👉 How can the SI community become more closely connected to Europe’s mission-oriented innovation policy? \n  \n Read more and find the webinar details here: https://lnkd.in/eVVMeAR3
